THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD
(Matt 5:17-19 [KJV])
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Here is a summary of the Biblical commandments? (pt7)
Introduction:
We will now summarize by the word what scriptures teach about the commandments. First, we recall the following (We hope you have already read the preceding pages on the topic; pages 1-6). Also, we hope you watched this presentation that shows how the first believers loved Christ and kept His commandments/laws. Here is an interview that exposes the truth as to how people in history changed our foundation of faith into a Christian religion of lies and pagan practices. Watch and may you be blessed as you understand.
As used in Scripture (New Testament – NT and Old Testament – OT):
The word Law as written in the NT = Torah = The first 5 books of Moses or the Law of Moses = Instructions
The word commandments as written in the NT = The commandments of God = Torah and commandments in the New Testament
Commandments or law asked to be done by the believer does not refer to 2, 9, or 10; it refers to all God’s word (commandments, precepts, statutes etc) – about 600 plus in the OT and more in the NT.
When it is mentioned to use scripture for correction it refers only to the OT. Why? All the New Testament letters were either not written or compiled as yet. The body of believers in the NT studied from the Torah/scripture (meaning instruction).
Read..
(2Tim 3:16 [KJV])
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
(Acts 17:11 [KJV])
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
There is no excluding of any of the commandments in the New Testament. Only the ordinances to do with sacrificing of animals for our sins are no longer required. Why?
(Col 2:14 [KJV])
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Our Lord Yeshua blotted out ordinances (sacrificing of animals). Sin against God and man is still in effect. Why? Sin is the transgression of God’s law (God’s law does not grow old or wear out because of the modernization of man; GOD’S LAW IS ETERNAL)
(1John 3:4 [KJV])
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
As you read on keep this in mind: God gave the Jews the bible, written to Jews about the coming King of the Jews.
What our Master/Lord/Owner/GOD said about the commandments:
(Matthew 5:19 [KJV]))
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments (referring to the law or the prophets – all OT), and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
On the Above: Our Lord Yeshua is saying that we should clearly do and teach ALL the commandments. And if we do them we will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
— —
(John 15:10 [KJV])
If ye keep my commandments (Torah and what He said in the New Testament), ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments (same commandments, so that He could become our savior), and abide in his love.
Our Lord says if we keep His commandments, we will abide in His love
— —
(John 14:15-16 [KJV])
If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Our Lord says if we (believers) love Him that we need to keep His commandments. When we obey, He will give us another Comforter (Holy Spirit).

What our apostle Paul said regarding the Law of God (Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles)
(Rom 3:31 [KJV])
Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Paul is saying that we should establish (meaning in English is to continue) in the law (Torah). He first asks should we make “void” (meaning do away with, in English) the Law, he then states an empathic “NO” (God forbid).
—- —
Is it difficult to keep the commandments of God? We will let the word speak.
(1John 5:3 [KJV])
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
Not grievous means that it is not difficult to keep the commandments of God. God has not given man anything that is impossible to keep. When you read about the yoke that was difficult to bear, it was the added laws and requirements placed by the religious leaders on the common man (Jewish priest in Judaism and church leaders in Christianity – called the traditions of men or religion by Yeshua). This approach by man to put rules that contradict God’s word/commandments makes worship to HIM void.
(Matt 15:9 [KJV])
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
The example below: Here is a couple that kept the law and was blameless; before the Holy Ghost was given to the church/assembly.
(Luke 1:6 [KJV])
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
REM: We can keep the commandments of God and be blameless, but we cannot keep them “perfectly” for all of our lives. Why? In sin, we are conceived and we are shaped in iniquity. God requires perfection for Him to be pleased with us; this is why Yeshua came on our behalf, to purchase us with His blood so that we can now be in Him and He in us. So that in Him we can be made perfect before God.

What are the two characteristics found in the TRUE believers? Again we will let the word speak.
Look at what Daniel the prophet wrote.
(Daniel 9:4 [KJV])
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him (Yeshua/God), and to them that keep his commandments;
The second witness John wrote.
(Revelation 14:12 [KJV])
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments (Torah or the prophets) of God, and the faith of Jesus.
In the above, there are two characteristics that mark the child of the King. Love for the King and obedience to His word (commandments/law)
—- —
Can the two characteristics found in the saints above be confirmed to gain eternal life?
(Luke 18:18-20 [KJV]) – 1st characteristic
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? 19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God. 20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
Yeshua asked him about the commandments that are required to be kept.
(Luke 18:22 [KJV]) – 2nd characteristic
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
Yeshua asked him to put away his earthly love and follow Him. Put Him first above all else and you will be perfect.
—- —
Are you told to love Jesus and put Him in your heart and forget the commandments?
What can possibly happen to you if you have nothing to do with the law of God.
First; anyone that works iniquity is transgressing the law of God. They are called foolish.
Read..
(Ps 5:5 [KJV])
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
God hates all them that transgress His law (willingly and give no care to what it says).
Now look at what happens to “believers” that operate in the name of our Lord.
(Matt 7:23 [KJV])
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
The Greek for the word iniquity means unrighteous behavior or transgressor of the Torah/law/commandments
Iniquity (Matt 7:23) = G458 ἀνομία anomia (a-no-miy’-a) n.
illegality, i.e.violation of law.
(genitivecase) wickedness.
[from G459]
KJV: iniquity, X transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness

How should the commandments be used?
As Yeshua did when He was tempted by the devil. Yeshua used the word from the Torah in every instance to repel the temptations.
—- —
How are the commandments structured?
The commandments can be divided into three categories.
First, we are told that God is LOVE.
When Christ was asked which is the greatest commandment (singular)? He gave two from the Torah.
1st group (primary): All the commandments hang on these two (from the Torah)
Love for God – how to relate to God.
(Deut 6:5 [KJV]) – Torah
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Love for yourself and fellow man – how we relate to each other.
(Lev 19:18 [KJV]) – Torah
Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
2nd group (General): – The Ten Commandments (including the sabbath or 7th day of rest)
The first 4 commandments hang on the greatest commandment re God
The last 6 commandments hang on the other greatest commandment re man.
3rd group (Specifics): The specifics on how God wants us to carry out the above.
Example:
General: Thou shall not steal.
Specific: God says that the man that steals when found should repay several times what was stolen.
(Exod 22:1 [KJV]) – Torah
If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
Man (guided by satan) has abolished the above law. The thief is locked up and if the item stolen is not found or returned, the person that the crime was against has to find a way to recover his/her loss.
The merits of God’s law have to be studied. What we will say is this, any law that man dreams up that contradicts God’s law is pagan/idolatrous and all that make and follow them will be destroyed in the lake of fire.

Does keeping the commandments of God save us?
Quick answer, NO. In Acts 15, Romans and Galatians, this question was addressed.
The commandments were given (in the OT) and amended by God (in the NT and new commandment(s) given) to help guide us (it is our schoolmaster) as to what we should or should not do. In summary, it is in obedience that we follow the commandments as they help us not to destroy ourselves. To sin (break the commandments) leads to death. Why? The wages of sin is death (breaking the commandments destroys our very makeup). However, what justifies/perfects us before God is our place in Yeshua, who saves us (put Him first in your life and follow Him as He has commanded). Yeshua Himself said that until heaven and earth passes away not one jot or one tittle will pass from the law till all be fulfilled.
(Matt 5:18 [KJV])
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
The heavens and the earth are still here, so go learn, do and teach the law of God – as HE commanded.
