National Sunday Law EXPOSED.
Is the Sunday Law the mark as outlined in Rev 13:16-17 (no one will be able to buy or sell without having the mark)? To answer this we will be responding to the statements made in a book called “National Sunday Law” by A. Jan Marcussen. Note: This paper is only focused on the Sunday Law doctrine, other points made in the book will not be addressed here. Note: The book does contain historical facts surrounding the evils of the Roman church that is worth knowing for personal studies. Get your copy from Amazon.
Why did we research this topic? Just imagine if it is a physical mark that is going to be placed IN our right hand, or in our forehead, and we are looking for a Sunday law. Under deception, while we look for a Sunday Law, we will all get the mark and be doomed to an eternal hell FOREVER. Our approach to this study is to look at the statements made by Marcussen in his book (NSL) and compare them to scripture.
Apologist Response to “National Sunday Law” (Book)
Completed by TTGM – 28.12.2022
1. National Sunday Law wrote pg 44 (NSL):
Find what the “seal of God” is, and you’ll know that the “mark of the beast” is just the opposite.
TTGM’s Response (TR):
We searched the scripture as instructed and we found the following that tells us what the seal of God actually is and where it will be placed. You will note that the seal is carried by an angel, and you will also observe that it is applied to a set number of people (144,000). It is written.
(Rev 7:2-3 [KJV])
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
The Bible also tells us the number of people that would receive the seal (no more and no less). It is written.
(Rev 7:4 [KJV])
And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
Comments:
The seal is something that is carried by an angel and it would be placed on 144,000 of God’s people. We now look at the root word (seal) in Greek. You will see it speaks to a signet. In this case, since angels carry this signet, it will have to be spiritual in nature and will be applied to specific people.
Seal = G4973 σφραγίς sphragis (sfrag-ece’) n.
1. a signet (as fencing in or protecting from misappropriation)
2. (by implication) the stamp impressed (as a mark of privacy, or genuineness)
{literally or figuratively}
[probably strengthened from G5420]
KJV: seal

THE EVIDENCE AS PRESENTED BY NSL THAT THE MARK IS SUNDAY WORSHIP:
2. NSL – pg 45:
“Winds” in prophecy stand for strife and war
TR:
We do not agree. Winds in the Bible speak to directions (4 winds), location, and scattering.
(Jer 49:36 [KJV]) – scattering
And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
– – –
TR2:
Here is a prophecy with winds that have nothing to do with strife and war, but rather that they may live. It is written.
(Ezek 37:9 [KJV]) – that they may live
Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
Comments:
NSL’s statement that winds in prophecy stand for strife and war, is not supported by scripture. Yes, when the wind(s) is mentioned it does what the air does, it blows things down or away.

3. NSL – pg 46:
A seal has three parts: 1 name of the ruler, 2. The ruler’s title and 3. The territory over which he rules. This statement is tied to what is stated on Pg 47, where NSL calls the Sabbath day commandment God’s seal (three parts included).
TR:
We do not agree that a seal must have three parts included; seals are different in style and design – Proof: have a look at these many examples of man-made seals. The following verse refers to God’s seal, it would make no sense to substitute the word seal with the Sabbath day.
(John 6:27 [KJV])
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Comments:
In the same way, it makes no sense to substitute what God sealed with the Sabbath day, also, what the angel carried and applied to the people could not be the Sabbath Day. It is something that the angel has and gives, not what the people are doing.
Observation:
Regards to defining what a seal is, we must consult the scripture for this. In the following verse, it is clear a seal is the signet of a King or Lords (so to is the seal mentioned in John 6:27). An engraved ring carried a symbol or words that were representative of the authority issuing it. Again, we do not know why NSL would define what a seal is, and then fit it to the fourth commandment. Also, at the same time assign its link to the Mark (Sunday Law) of the beast as described in Rev 13. This can only be described as doctrinal gymnastics.
(Dan 6:17 [KJV])
And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
Man’s seal is physical in nature and God’s seal is spiritual in nature, it is God’s signet and never defined anywhere in the Bible as having three parts.
Strong’s Concordance:
Signet = H5824 עִזקָא `izqa’ (iz-kaw’) n-f.
1. a signet ring (as engraved)
[(Aramaic) from a root corresponding to H5823]
KJV: signet.
What Mr. Marcussen used to define the fourth commandment as being God’s seal is incorrect (NSL stated a seal must have, three parts: 1 name of the ruler, 2. The ruler’s title, and 3. The territory over which he rules). First, we wondered where he got the definition from as it is not defined in this way in either the secular world or the Bible. If anyone is going to define what a seal is in the bible, they should use the Bible ONLY to find the definition. We looked at all the seals described in the bible and none fits what Mr Marcussen defined.
Again, If we are going to define anything it must be consistent with everything else of the same nature or makeup. What NSL did was define the Sabbath Commandment with items included in the wording (of the commandment) and called it the seal. This is like defining a car as having tires, a steering wheel, and doors, and then calling it a house.
To side with NSL reasoning:
First, he should have looked at the Bible’s definition of a seal and then determine if the definition fits with the 4th commandment. From what we can see, this he did not do.
TTGM reached out to Mr. Marcussen to question him about where he got the definition from as it is not found in the scripture; we got no response. If it is his own PERSONAL definition, this makes it his own personal interpretation of scripture; this we should not do or recommend (scripture must be used to interpret scripture). If you read this and know Mr. Marcussen, ask him to write us at info@truthgospel.org; TTGM has questions for him.

4. NSL – pg 47:
You may ask “Is the Sabbath really the seal of God?” Look at Ezekiel 20:12. “Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them…… (The word “sign” means the same as “seal” – See Romans 4:11)
TR:
We do not agree, we looked at the word sign in Ezekiel 20:12 and the root word (Hebrew) has NO reference to it being a seal (strong’s concordance) – mark yes, but seal NO – in comments we define and show the difference between a mark and a seal.
Sign = H226 אוֹת ‘owth (oth) n-f.
1. a signal (literally or figuratively), as a flag, beacon, monument, omen, prodigy, evidence, etc
[probably from H225 (in the sense of appearing)]
KJV: mark, miracle, (en-)sign, token.
– – –
TR2:
In Romans 4:11 the sign was Abraham’s circumcision. The seal was given due to the faith that Abraham had in God.
Here we look at what this seal was in Greek. You will see it speaks to being protected.
Seal = G4973 σφραγίς sphragis (sfrag-ece’) n.
1. a signet (as fencing in or protecting from misappropriation)
2. (by implication) the stamp impressed (as a mark of privacy, or genuineness)
{literally or figuratively}
[probably strengthened from G5420]
KJV: seal
Comments:
Definition of seal (TTGM): A seal is an official insignia/signet that can be placed in or on a body/document | Physical man-made seal (google): a piece of wax, lead, or other material with an individual design stamped into it, attached to a document to show that it has come from the person who claims to have issued it. Definition of mark (google): a small area on a surface having a different color from its surroundings, typically one caused by accident or damage.

5. NSL – pg 47:
What could be clearer? The seal of God is His Sabbath.
TR:
Again, we do not agree. Substitute the following word seal, using the Sabbath day, and determine for yourself if the substitution works.
(Eph 4:30 [KJV]) – We are sealed by the Holy Spirit (nothing to do with the Sabbath day or keeping of it)
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
(2Tim 2:19 [KJV]) – When we are standing in the foundation of God we are sealed (nothing to do with the Sabbath day)
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
(Rev 7:2 [KJV]) – the seal of God can be carried by an angel, hence, it is something that can be moved spiritually (nothing to do with the Sabbath day)
And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Comments:
In Greek, the seal is defined as a signet. To say it is the Sabbath because of three parts found in the fourth commandment is a stretch too far (nb. the writer incorrectly defined what a seal must consist of). Also, when we substitute Sabbath in the verses that have God’s seal they no longer make sense.

6. NSL – pg 49:
Here’s another question – what does it mean to receive the mark in your hand? ….. To receive it in the hand means that when the mark is enforced by the “image of the beast,” they go along with it just to be able to buy or sell…. The hand is a symbol of work and making a living.
TR:
Here is the problem. NSL states the hand will go along with the decision to follow on so as to save their lives. However, the verse clearly states that is has to do with placement. The mark will be placed in either the right hand OR forehead. The mark will not be placed in or connected to both body parts. To be clear, if you get the mark in your hand it will NOT be in your forehead; and if you get it in your forehead, it will NOT be in your right hand. It is written.
(Rev 13:16 [KJV])
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, OR in their foreheads:
Comments:
For NSL to tie the two and make them in association with each other (hand & forehead) is an error. The word OR clearly states it is a placement of something in one OR the other body part. Placement of what? A physical mark/object that will be placed in our body.
* * * * * *
TTGM’s Conclusion:
Again, why did we research this topic? If we get it wrong we will accept the actual mark into our body and be doomed to eternal hell FOREVER.
UPDATE: The number of the beast has been revealed. We look at what the verse in question says and we will take a literal approach to understand what God is telling us in Rev 13. The image of the beast has the number 666.
(Rev 13:18 [KJV])
Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
An interesting patent number WO2020 060606 (note, zero is not a number) turned up in 2020, which belongs to a crypto-financial system that will be used in buying and selling. It will be in our body and a sensor will link the body to the currency system. Click/Tap here to see the actual patent and design features. We wait to see where the sensor transmitter will be placed in the human body.

THE SUNDAY LAW WAS ALREADY RATIFIED BY ROME.
In the year AD 321 the following law was implemented and enforced by Rome. This is why the Many do not obey the commandment of God’s Sabbath today. Here is the written law of Rome/man, given to us by Constantine.
Constantine created the earliest Sunday law known to history in AD 321. It says this:
“On the venerable Day of the sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits: because it often happens that another Day is not so suitable for grain sowing or for vine planting: lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost.”
—- —-
Following this initial legislation (from Constantine), both emperors and Popes in succeeding centuries added other laws to strengthen Sunday observance. What began as a pagan ordinance ended as a Christian regulation. Close on the heels of the Edict of Constantine followed the Catholic Church Council of Laodicea (circa 364 AD):
“Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday (Sabbath), but shall work on that Day: but the Lord’s Day, they shall especially honour; and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day. If however, they are found Judaizing, they shall be shut out from Christ.”
The question should be.
In the future, will the Sunday law be enforced again under a one-world government? We do not know, because the Bible does not speak to this.
How will it end?
The Sunday Law doctrine started with Ellen G. White in the 1800s and was then carried on by Seventh-day Adventist members (eg. A. Jan Marcussen) that believed it. TTGM tells you this, it will not only end for people that disobey one commandment, but it will also end for them that work iniquity. What is iniquity? Iniquity is what the lawless do, the ones that transgress the law of God. It is written.
(Matt 7:23 [KJV])
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

If there is anything in this paper that is in question, TTGM can be contacted for comment at info@truthgospel.org. We all have one life to live and we must make every effort to get it right in the Lord on this side of heaven.
Be blessed in understanding.
