HOW TO BE A GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT
[Matt 25:21 (KJV)]
His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
We explain what we must do to be a good and faithful servant.
You can search bookstores high and low, it will be hard to find a book on being a good and faithful servant. Quite plainly, there are no books on servitude, the closest we have found is called a “servant leader”. On the other hand, there are tons of books on leadership. Today, being a servant is looked down upon and nothing to aim for, yet, the only people that will get into God’s Kingdom are the good and faithful servants (Matt 25:21). We ask this question, how can one be a great leader if you do not know how to be a good and faithful servant?
A SERVANT’S HEAD ACCORDING TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD
Every servant has a head. A head is a person that tells you what to do, similar to the manager that instructs the supervisor, or the supervisor that instructs the employee. What happens if an employee does not follow the instructions of his supervisor? The employee will be on the breadline sooner or later. No organization can function effectively if the employees are not obedient to the instructions given by their head; it is the same with God’s Kingdom. In God’s Kingdom, the order is as follows; the head of Christ is God the Father, the head of the man is Christ, and the head of the woman is the man. It is written.
[1Cor 11:3 (KJV)]
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
THE HEAD IS IN FULL CONTROL
God’s word uses examples in nature to help us to understand what is expected – the head is in full control of the body; you will never see a hand/foot going its own way or even complaining when the head gives a command. As the employee must be obedient to the supervisor, the woman MUST be obedient to the man, and the man MUST be obedient to Christ/Yeshua, the Word. NOTE: Christ, the perfect servant, is in FULL and COMPLETE obedience to the Father. There is only one woman recorded in scripture that disobeyed her head. She was banished from the king after she refused his request.
The King’s commandment was refused.
(Esth 1:12 [KJV])
But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very wroth, and his anger burned in him.
Here is Vashti’s end after her rebellion against her head. She was fired.
(Esth 1:19 (KJV)]
If it please the king, let there go a royal commandment from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate unto another that is better than she.
FULL REBELLION IN TODAY’S WORLD (the following speaks to women/men that say they believe in God and follow His word)
Most women today are in full rebellion to their heads/husbands. However, in the workplace it is quite different, women will obey the instructions given and even do more for the reward (money and position). Will they be judged by God as good and faithful servants? The word to women/wives is clear.
(Col 3:18 [KJV])
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
Also, Most Men today are in full rebellion against the Word of God. Their head Yeshua told them to keep His commandments and unfortunately, most of these men do not even know what the commandments are. By not keeping these commandments they work iniquity (sin). Just like Vashti all these men and women who rebel will be fired.
We are told to Keep His Commandments.
(John 14:15 [KJV])
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If we do not keep His commandments, we work iniquity and we will be fired. Here is the firing, it is written.
(Matt 7:23 [KJV])
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
WHAT DOES A SERVANT DO WITH AN UNRIGHTEOUS HEAD?
When your head (Master) gives you an unrighteous command that is not in keeping with love (that is not in keeping with God’s commands), what should you do? A Master that is unjust should not put his servant in conflict with God’s word. Masters are commanded to be righteous for they too have a master. It is written.
(Col 4:1 [KJV])
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Here an unrighteous Master asked his servants to bow to his image. It is written.
(Dan 3:5 [KJV])
That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
When asked to transgress the law of God, the servants refused. For these servants, it was better to die than to sin against the Most High. It is written.
(Dan 3:16-18 [KJV])
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
THE PERFECT SERVANT
Out of love the perfect servant was instructed by His Head to go to the cross to die for all mankind. He did not want to go, as it was a mountain that was very very hard to climb. Nevertheless out of love He submitted His will to His Head’s will, by saying….
(Matt 26:39 [KJV])
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Can you as a servant submit yourself to your head and say the same words? Remember this, we are not here to serve ourselves, our purpose in life is to serve our God and we must do it in spirit and in truth.
Be blessed in understanding and doing.
