ON
Nisan 17 - The Last High Watch
(1Cor 15:20 [KJV])
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
This TTGM report is dedicated to the watchmen in our time, for we have been called for such a time as this. We end it on the seventh watch.
Events that historically occurred on Nisan 17th
Nisan 17 is a very significant date in the biblical calendar. Several major events in Scripture are believed to have occurred on this day, all connected with deliverance, victory, and new life. Below is a list of the key events traditionally associated with Nisan 17.
1. Noah’s Ark Rested on the Mountains of Ararat
Scripture: Genesis 8:4
“And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.”
Originally this was recorded as the 17th day of the 7th month in the pre-Exodus calendar. After God changed Israel’s calendar in Exodus 12 (making Nisan the first month), that same date corresponds to Nisan 17.
Meaning
- Judgment from the Flood had passed.
- A new world was beginning.
- Humanity received a new start.

2. Israel Crossed the Red Sea
Scripture: Exodus 14–15
Israel left Egypt on Nisan 15 (the day after Passover). Jewish tradition and many biblical chronologies place the crossing of the Red Sea on Nisan 17.

- God divided the sea.
- Israel crossed safely.
- Egypt’s army was destroyed.
Meaning
- Deliverance from slavery.
- Destruction of the enemy.
- Birth of Israel as a free nation.

Scripture: Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20
Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day after Passover.

- Nisan 17 – Resurrection
Meaning
- Victory over death.
- Fulfillment of prophecy.

4. The Feast of Firstfruits
Scripture: Leviticus 23:10–11
The Feast of Firstfruits occurs the day after the Sabbath during Passover week, which frequently aligns with Nisan 17.
“He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.”
This feast celebrated:
- The first harvest of barley
- A promise of the full harvest to come
The New Testament links this directly to Christ.
