TTGM will give the back story on Acts 10 first, and then we will show you the verses to support our points.

God gave Peter a vision. God uses visions and dreams to communicate messages. The message in this vision has to do with the Jews’s treatment of Gentiles. You see Peter was a Jew and Jews had absolutely nothing to do with Gentiles. So much so that Jews saw Gentiles as common and unclean. (just like common and unclean flesh – TAKE NOTE THAT UNCLEAN FLESH IS NEVER CALLED MEAT/FOOD IN THE BOOK OF GOD). God’s plan was to have Gentiles visit Peter so that he could give them instructions. God knew that Peter would not entertain them, so hence, the reason for the vision. 

God used the vision to show Peter that calling men common and unclean was not right because He (God) could change them and make them acceptable (from unclean to clean). The vision was not about the unclean flesh of animals but rather the unclean life of men.

After the vision, Peter pondered (doubted) for a time what was the “message” God was sending. Peter KNEW THE LAW/TORAH/COMMANDMENT DID NOT CHANGE to say common and unclean flesh could now be eaten. He doubted. Read.

Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate,

Here the Gentiles turn up to see Peter. As an apostle of God, Peter was highly respected and sought after by the Gentile believers (in this case God sent them to to see Peter).

While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee (Gentiles). 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. 21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come?

Here is the point where Peter understood the message of the vision.

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation (Gentile); but God hath shewed me (the Vision that he had) that I should not call any man common or unclean. (no longer be prejudiced Peter). 29 Therefore came I unto you without gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for: I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

Peter starts his preaching with the message he was given through his vision.

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

The message in the vision was about getting Peter to accept the Gentiles and preach to them.

This is the story behind Act 10 (we are commanded not to eat pork/swine and it did not change. To eat pork is called iniquity/sin – Deau 14:8)
