HOW DO YOU DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD?
(Ps 1:2 [KJV])
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
When we delight ourselves in the Lord we will be rewarded. We explain.
We will first consult the Strong’s concordance to understand the meaning of Delight.
Delight = H2656 חֵפֶץ chephets (chay’-fets) n-m.
1. pleasure.
2. (hence, abstractly) desire.
3. (concretely) a valuable thing.
4. (hence, by extension) a matter (as something in mind).
[from H2654]
KJV: acceptable, delight(-some), desire, things desired, matter, pleasant(-ure), purpose, willingly.
Root(s): H2654

God expects us to desire Him with delight and pleasure; it is best done willingly.
The question is, how do we delight ourselves in the Lord? We will let the word speak, it is written.
(Ps 37:23 [KJV])
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
What is His Way? His way is what we should do. It is written.
(Ps 112:1 [KJV])
Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
(Ps 119:174 [KJV])
I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

When we love Him and read, study, meditate on and live according to His commandments/law, we are delighting ourselves in the Lord.
Ps 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
THE REWARD
When we delight in His law, He will give us the desires of our heart.
(Ps 37:4 [KJV])
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
We are commanded in the Old Testament.
(Exod 20:6 [KJV])
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
We are commanded in the New Testament.
(John 14:15 [KJV])
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
When we live according to His commandments/law we show our love toward Lord Yeshua.
(John 14:21 [KJV])
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Q.
Do you keep His commandments as contained in the Torah/Word of God, do you meditate on them day and night? Are you truly delighting in Him that you say you love?
Our Lord Yeshua is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. When we love the way (Keeping His Commandments), we are loving Yeshua. When we delight in His commandments/law, we are delighting in Him.
(John 14:6 [KJV])
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Borrowed from “the Chosen”
Yeshua/Jesus from the Chosen said, “I am the Law of Moses”. (He is the Word and the Word became Flesh – the word is the Torah or the prophets). When we delight ourselves in the law, we are delighting in Him.
Conclusion:
In God’s word delighting yourself in the Lord is linked directly to delighting yourself in the law of God.
Be Blessed in understanding.
