ON

UNDERSTANDING, "NEITHER THE DAY NOR THE HOUR"

(Matt 25:13 [KJV])
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

This paper will attempt to open your understanding of what is meant by not knowing the day nor hour.

Among the Christian community, the ignorance of this topic is astonishing. TTGM will attempt to shed some light on this to open the understanding of this idiom.

There are TWO instances in scripture that our King refers to the day and hour.
Instance 1.
In the first instance we have “That Day” relating to the heaven and earth passing away.
Here He speaks of THAT DAY to come at the end of 1000 yr period. (note: day and hour)
Matt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

See preceding verses. You would see, “That Day” has nothing to do with Yeshua returning or coming for His people.
Matt 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Note: This is THAT DAY that only the Father knows about. Only the Father knows the time when the heaven and earth pass away.

Instance 2.
Now let us look at the other instance that talks about the day nor hour (note day nor hour and NOT day and hour). Again, the Lord is talking about His coming and NOT HEAVEN AND EARTH PASSING AWAY.

In this verse, he speaks of the Groom’s coming at the time of marriage (exodus) – read verses before Matt 25:13. It is the time that we are to watch for the new moon, for it will mark the coming of our King (on the Feast of Trumpets).
(Matt 25:13 [KJV])
Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

We are called to watch. As the bride, we are commanded to watch for the new moon that begins the Feast of Trumpets.
(Luke 21:36 [KJV])
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Again, there is one instance (1) speaking of the earth and heaven passing away (ref: after the 1000 yrs a new heaven and earth), and the other instance (2) when He spoke about not knowing the day nor hour when the bridegroom comes. This relates directly to the Feast of Trumpets. TTGM believes that the King will come for His bride at this feast (Sep 23-24, 2025).

Note: We know the time that we can keep WATCH as we are looking for the sliver of the new moon.

UNDERSTANDING THE FEAST OF TRUMPETS

When you hear it said no man will know the day nor the hour in Matt 25:13, it relates to the Feast of Trumpets. It is the only feast that starts at the new moon sighting (see picture at the top of this page), and it can occur on the first or second day (23-24th).

The phrase “No man knows the day nor the hour” (from Matthew 25:13) is often interpreted literally in Christian theology as a statement about the uncertainty of the timing of Christ’s return. However, some scholars and Messianic Jewish teachers have pointed out that this phrase is also a well-known Jewish idiom tied specifically to the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah, also known as Rosh Hashanah).

Here’s the background:
1. The Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah)

It is the first of the Fall feasts on the Jewish calendar.

It occurs on the first day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei, which begins with the new moon.

Unlike other feasts that fall on full moons (which are easier to predict), the new moon had to be visibly confirmed by two witnesses who reported to the Sanhedrin.

Because of this, no one could say exactly when it would begin—hence, it became known as the feast where “no one knows the day nor the hour.”

2. The Idiom in Jewish Culture

Ancient Jewish rabbis and communities used this exact phrase, “no one knows the day nor the hour,” in connection with the Feast of Trumpets.

It was a playful yet meaningful saying among the people, recognizing the uncertainty and anticipation around the exact start of the feast.

3. Jesus’ Use of the Phrase

When Yeshua said in Matthew 25:13, “for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh,” many believe He was subtly pointing His Jewish listeners to the Feast of Trumpets.

For a Jewish audience familiar with the idiom, this would hint that His return could be linked to this feast—without stating it outright.

End

CONCLUSION
Our King kept His first appointed times (spring feasts), and He will keep His second appointed times (fall feasts). And, as He allowed the prophets, the wise men, and the shepherds to know what He was going to do, He is letting us know now. He keeps His word.

(Amos 3:7 [KJV])
Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
