THE WILL OF GOD IN THE BELIEVER’S LIFE
(Col 4:12 [KJV])
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
How do you as a believer know that you are living in God’s will?
Are you in the will of God?
Are you in the right job?
Are you fellowshipping in the right body of believers?
Are you married to the right person?
What should I start first or leave to last?
These are some everyday questions that come our way as believers. We live day by day not knowing if what we are about is in keeping with God’s will. TTGM will attempt to answer this question by the Word of God and by it alone.
Question:
The first question is what is God’s will?
Answer:
God’s will is what He asks us to do. What does God request?
What did God (Yeshua/Jesus) ask? It is written.
(John 14:15 [KJV])
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Yeshua (Jesus) was quoting from here; referring to the commandments of the Torah. Read here for more about His commandments.
(Exod 20:6 [KJV])
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Conclusion:
God’s will is exactly what He has requested. To be in God’s will if we love Him is to obey His commandments. When we live outside of His commandments, we are no longer in His will.

Question:
Okay, if I stay in His will by obeying His commandments how do I know what He wants me to do, for example, which job to apply for, whom to marry, what should I study etc?
Answer:
God will place what you need to do in your heart, but you must delight yourself in Him. Note the scripture says that He (God) will place the desire in you. It is written.
(Ps 37:4 [KJV])
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Conclusion:
If you delight yourself in God, He (God) will give you the desire in your heart and you will know what you should do in your life.

Question:
Okay, how then do I delight myself in the Lord so that I can get the right desires?
Answer:
We will let scripture answer this question. It is written.
(Ps 1:2 [KJV])
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
(Ps 40:8 [KJV])
I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
(Ps 119:70 [KJV])
Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law.
(Ps 119:77 [KJV])
Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.
(Ps 119:174 [KJV])
I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.
(Rom 7:22 [KJV])
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Conclusion:
You would notice a pattern between delight and law. What is the law but a series of commandments that our Lord has asked us to obey. When we joyfully obey God, with no feeling of remorse but just happy to do His will, our Lord will place the desires in us to know what we must do.
IMPORTANT: In everything we do, we must study to know how God works. And as we gain knowledge about how God works in our lives, He is better able to guide us towards His perfect will.
We must study to be approved by God. It is written.
(2Tim 2:15 [KJV])
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
If we do not increase in knowledge as His people, we can be potentially destroyed. It is written.
(Hos 4:6 [KJV])
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
NOW A HARD QUESTION:
If we are living in His commandments, delighting ourselves in the Lord and we do something that He has placed in our heart as a desire. Then it falls apart, what does this mean?
Answer:
Again, we answer from the book. It is written.
(1Thess 5:18 [KJV])
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
It is also important to know that if you are in the Lord, good and bad things will happen in your life. Again the bad things (eg. death, loss of job, sickness) will come because the God of creation has a purpose. As long as you are in the Lord it will be worked out for the good. It is not about you or TTGM, it is about the big picture. GOD IS IN TOTAL CONTROL OF ALL EVENTS.
(Rom 8:28 [KJV])
And we know that ALL things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Be Blessed as His Spirit helps you to understand His word.
